About Our Beef.....

We proud to offer natural beef that is free from antibiotics, hormones and animal by
products. Our cows are pasture raised and in the winter they are fed corn and forages that
are raised on our farms. Controlling every aspect of the cow's life enables us to provide
consistently tender and tasty beef. You will appreciate the superb taste of our naturally raised
animals versus the dull tasting supermarket meat. See the bottom of the page for more
Helpful Freezer Beef Information.  We offer custom finishing, using pasture or corn.

We have Angus, Hereford, Holstein and Charolais cows available.

Thank you for considering Clyde River Farms as your source of your family's freezer beef. The following information should prove
helpful.

The cost of our beef is $
2.00 per pound "hanging weight".  Hanging weight is determined the day after slaughter.  It is the weight of
just the 2 sides of beef that will later be custom cut to your specifications.

After slaughter, the beef is aged in the cooler for about 10 days. During this time you will need to talk to the butcher regarding the
types and sizes of cuts you would like.  You will choose how thick you want your cuts, how large you want your hamburgers (if you want
hamburgers etc.) You will also choose the types of wrapping you want. Most of our customers choose vacuum sealing. The butcher will
help you with questions and will have suggestions.

A typical large steer may weigh about 1400 pounds. ( We have smaller animals available too!) Hanging weight is typically about 60% of
the live weight of the animal, which is about 840 pounds in this example. This is divided equally between the customers (usually two).
Your cost for the beef would be 420 pounds x $
2.00 = $840.00 (paid to Clyde River Farm) plus the cut, wrap and freeze, which is
about $.4
0 and $.50 per pound and is paid directly to the butcher shop at the time of pick-up. Most of our customers find that when all
is said and done, the price per pound of our beef (all costs included) is about $
2.49 per pound. This includes all their meat- steaks,
roasts, burgers etc.  Better that supermarket prices and it tastes better too!
